Arcade Video Game Event to Bring the 1980s Back to Southern California

Party with Pac-Man in Alhambra on March 5, 2011

ALHAMBRA, CA - February 1, 2011 - SC3 (Southern California Classic Collectors) and Nucleus Gallery today announced they will host the latest SC3 arcade party Saturday, March 5, 2011 from noon to midnight. SC3 will bring over 30 classic arcade machines to the gallery floor for 12 hours of nonstop gaming. A dozen vintage home consoles, including the Atari 2600, Intellivision, Nintendo NES and Sega Genesis, will be set up with plenty of games.

"Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Atari. To many people these names are memories," says SC3 organizer Steve Hertz. "To SC3, they are party guests."

Live music, featuring 8-bit and chiptune artists, will begin late in the evening. A live quiz-show-style competition will challenge guests' knowledge of gaming trivia for the chance to win prizes.

Traditional SC3 attractions, including '80s music and videos, a video game trading room, and live "Rock Band" competitions will also appear.

Refreshments will not be provided at this event – food and drink are not allowed within the gallery – but food trucks will be offering fare outside, and there are any number of local restaurants within easy reach of the venue.

Admission to the event is $10 for those who pre-register online or $15 at the door.

Since October of 2004, Nucleus has strived to be a welcoming gathering place for the art loving community by offering quality art, art-related goods, and rarities. Nucleus has also made a name for itself among video gamers by featuring cutting-edge exhibits of game-inspired artworks and live concerts of game-influenced music.

The Southern California Classic Collectors (SC3) is an organization of video and arcade game collectors serving the Metropolitan Los Angeles, San Diego and Inland Empire areas of Southern California. The group was founded in 1999 to bring together fans of video games from the "classic" era – the golden age of arcades and Atari – to meet, play the games, swap collectibles, and party like it's still 1982. The group has become best-known for its arcade parties, where hundreds of twenty-, thirty- and forty-somethings gather to enjoy dozens of vintage arcade cabinets and home video game consoles with NO quarters required!
